It takes all of his strength not to react. Not with Apollo standing right there.
She wrote him a goodbye letter... Because she thought she wouldn't survive all of this. And even then, there's barely anything about herself or how she feels in it. If it's not about him, it's Kurain, and how can she even think they could be better off without her? He doesn't know what he would've done without her all those years, from right after he got disbarred to bringing Trucy to Kurain for visits when he was still learning how to take care of a young child.
She means more to him than she knows... That's why he did this. To her. She'll never forgive him, and he knows that. He doesn't deserve forgiveness. He just needs to know that she'll be safe. Even if it didn't work out exactly as planned, but... it'll be fine. They'll be fine. Pearls and Maya... for him. It's not a fair trade in any sense of the word, but... it's enough.
He closes the notebook and hands it back to Apollo. ]
